Mommy Makeover

in Denver, CO

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and the physical demands of early motherhood leave lasting changes on the body. Breast volume decreases. Abdominal skin stretches. Fat redistributes in ways that don’t respond to diet or exercise. For many women, these changes persist despite an otherwise healthy lifestyle, and that gap between how they feel and how they look can be frustrating.

A Mommy Makeover is a combination of body contouring and breast enhancement procedures performed in a single surgery to address these changes all at once. Completely customized to each patient’s needs, the goal of this procedure is to help women feel comfortable and confident in their own bodies again. Dr. Mouchantat works closely with each patient to create authentic-looking, personalized results that refine the body’s natural shape and better reflect how you want to look and feel.

Who Is a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?

You may be a candidate for a Mommy Makeover if you:

  • Have finished having children (or do not plan to have more)
  • Are at or near your goal weight and have maintained it for at least six months
  • Have loose abdominal skin and weakened core muscles
  • Have persistent fat deposits that haven’t responded to diet and exercise
  • Have experienced breast changes such as volume loss, sagging, or asymmetry following pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Are in good overall health
  • Have realistic expectations about surgical outcomes

During your consultation, Dr. Mouchantat will review your medical history and discuss which combination of procedures may be appropriate for your anatomy and goals.

Benefits of a Mommy Makeover

A Mommy Makeover addresses multiple areas of concern in a single surgery. This provides a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Improved breast appearance (shape, volume, position)
  • A firmer, flatter, and more toned abdomen
  • Smoother body contours overall
  • Better clothing fit and comfort
  • One recovery period instead of several
  • Less interruption to your daily schedule (compared to separate procedures)
  • Quicker results (compared to separate procedures)
  • Reduced expense (compared to separate procedures)
  • Greater ease and confidence in daily life

Combining procedures also allows Dr. Mouchantat to plan the overall result as a whole, creating proportional, balanced outcomes across the body.

About the Procedure

A Mommy Makeover is completely customizable; the combination of procedures and techniques used are all determined based on your anatomy, skin quality, and aesthetic goals. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a single operative session. Depending on the treatment plan, surgery typically takes two to five hours. Dr. Mouchantat will walk you through exactly what to expect before your procedure so that there are no surprises on the day of surgery.

Surgical Techniques

The techniques used in Mommy Makeover surgery depend on which procedures are included and the degree of correction needed.

For breast procedures, incision placement and implant positioning (when augmentation is included) are chosen based on your anatomy and goals. Dr. Mouchantat may use an inframammary or periareolar incision, submuscular or subglandular placement, and/or surgical lifting (for correction of breast sagging).

For body procedures, various surgical techniques can address excess skin, separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), and stubborn fat. Tummy tuck techniques range from mini to extended, and liposuction, when included, can remove fat through small incisions using a thin cannula.

Dr. Mouchantat plans the full surgical sequence in advance to ensure each component works together and that the overall result will look natural and harmonious.

Procedure Options

The procedures included in a Mommy Makeover are selected based on each patient’s specific concerns. The most commonly included procedures are:

  • Breast Augmentation: Restores breast volume and fullness using implants. Often combined with a lift when sagging is also present.
  • Breast Lift (Mastopexy): Repositions and reshapes the breasts to a more youthful position without adding volume.
  • Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty): Removes excess abdominal skin and tightens the underlying muscles, creating a flatter, firmer midsection.
  • Liposuction: Removes localized fat deposits from the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or other areas that haven’t responded to diet and exercise.

While a Mommy Makeover most often involves a tummy tuck with breast surgery, the surgical plan is always built around what each patient actually needs. Any combination of these—or other procedures—may be included in a Mommy Makeover as needed.

Recovery and Results

Dr. Mouchantat and his team will provide you with detailed pre- and post-operative instructions to prepare you for recovery. Because a Mommy Makeover combines multiple procedures, recovery is more involved than a single-procedure surgery. Patients should plan accordingly and arrange for help at home, particularly if you have young children.

Most patients can expect:

  • Week One: The most demanding part of recovery. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are normal and can be managed with prescribed medications. Movement is limited. Encourage circulation by moving your legs and taking short walks around the house several times a day.
  • Week Two: Most patients begin to feel significantly better and are able to return to light activity and desk work by the end of week two, depending on the physical demands of their job and the specific procedures performed in their Mommy Makeover. If your job is more physically strenuous, you may need additional time off.
  • Weeks Three through Five: Continued improvement in swelling and overall comfort. Abdominal tightness from the tummy tuck gradually eases. Light exercise may be possible by week four or five for some patients.
  • Weeks Six and Beyond: Most patients are cleared for more strenuous physical activity. Exercise should be reintroduced gradually, beginning with light cardio and strength training, and building up to abdominal exercises by around week 12.

Final results become visible as swelling resolves over the following months. Scars are placed carefully to remain as discreet as possible and will fade over time.
