HOW BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS CAN GIVE THEMSELVES THE ULTIMATE GIFT THIS CHRISTMAS

This month is all about increasing breast cancer awareness, but for those women who have defeated the Big C, the next step after a mastectomy is often breast reconstruction. For many women, a mastectomy is one of the final steps in beating breast cancer. But even with breast cancer gone, women are often left feeling scarred after the procedure with a constant reminder of what they have fought so hard to overcome. October 16th was the 2nd annual Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day). The goal of the initiative is to help inform breast cancer survivors of their options regarding breast reconstruction following a mastectomy.
Take back your life in time for the holidays
Breast reconstruction has been a way for many women to take the final step in moving past breast cancer. The procedure helps women to regain their old bodies so that they aren’t left with the constant reminder of their breast cancer, but can instead move on and live the rest of their lives. Although there are several alternatives to breast reconstruction such as specialized bras and even chest tattoos, there is no real alternative to regaining your former, feminine figure. Recovery after breast reconstruction typically takes a few weeks to months so there is plenty of time before the holidays.
